Temple Sisterhood
A quick update on Sisterhood’s sponsorship of a young
handicapped boy in Israel for his Bar Mitzvah: through our
donation we provided him with a kippa, a tallit, and a kiddush
cup. This program is coordinated by the Women’s
League of Conservative Judaism.
Enjoy your summer!
Who are we?
And why would you want to be a member?
Our
Sisterhood affiliated with Women’s League For Conservative for
Judaism in 1954. We have 122 Members, and we are one of 700 Affiliated
Sisterhoods in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Israel and other parts
of the world. We are in a partnership with the Conservative/Masorti
Movement, with close ties to all of its constituent Organizations.
Through
Torah Fund, we help support the Jewish Theological Seminary ( New York)
that provide us with Rabbis and Cantors.
So
how does our Sisterhood enhance Temple?
We
support our Hebrew School and our Youth. And most of all we support
our Temple.
We conduct an annual Sisterhood Shabbat, Host Hanukah Parties, Tu B’
Shavat Seders; we have joint programs with the Men’s Club. We
provide food for break the fast after Yom Kippur.
Our
Annual September Paid-up Membership dinner is always big hit. For years
we have had a representative sit on the Women’s Council at the
Jewish Community Federation.
Our
representatives attend New York State Branch Board meetings and National
conventions where we meet with other Sisterhood Women, and exchange
ides for programs and Fund Raisers.

out our upcoming programs! Watch the Temple Bulletin and Web Site for
our future events, and tell us what you’d like to see!
Bikur Cholim—Visiting

We
are organizing a group to visit the sick, an important mitzvah, that
is sure to bring comfort to those in the hospital or
home-bound due to illness. This is an act of loving kindness which will
make you and the person you visit feel good.
If
you have an interest in helping out with this group please or would
like more information, please contact the Temple Office -

Judaica Shop
Debbie
and Judy Go Shopping!
Debbie
and Judy ventured to Buffalo to attend a special sale held by one of
our vendors. We are so excited about our purchases and hope you will
be too. We bought some beautiful new Tallasim, children's games, jewelry,
holiday and other Judaic items.
We
will be returning to our regular gift shop hours on September 10th (the
first day of Hebrew school), and will be there on Sunday's (9:30 - 12:00)
and Tuesday's (4:15 - 5:45) when Hebrew school is in session. Until
then, you may call us for an appointment if you need a gift or other
Judaic item.
Come
in and look at our new inventory. See you soon!!
