What is the Temple Beth David
Men's Club?

You've seen our announcements in the Temple Bulletin. And perhaps you've attended a Sunday brunch, dinner or other activity. But, just what is the TBD Men's Club? And WHY would you want to be a member?

Our Men's Club was founded at Temple Beth David in the 1973. Now some 40 members strong, we are one of nearly three hundred Men's Clubs which are part of Jewish Conservative Congregations in North America. We are members of the Great Lakes Region of the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs. The Federation, itself founded in 1929, has a strong working relationship with the Jewish Theological Seminary. It is dedicated to providing the tools and skills to the local Men's Clubs to help them build Synagogue Leadership and meet the changing needs of the Jewish Community. So, how does OUR Club enhance Temple and Community? Well, we…

• Participate in our Temple Bingo Program Thursday nights at the Empire Bingo
  
  
• Visit the Rochester Psychiatric Center each month where we help run their Bingo game and distribute food items
  
  
• Run the Tsedaka Fund by bringing food from the blue box near the Temple office to the Jewish Family Service
  
  
• Run the annual Yom HaShoah (Yellow Candle) Holocaust Memorial Program
  
  
• Encourage participation in the World Wide Wrap
  
  
• Present Siddurim to those celebrating their Bar/Bat Mitzvah
  
  
• Produce programs to boost Hebrew literacy
  
  
• Donate funds to support the Camp Ramah Projects for Jewish teenagers
  
  
• Conduct joint Men's Club/Sisterhood programs
  
  
• Conduct an annual TBD Men's Club Shabbat
  
  
• Provide ushers for the High Holiday Services
  
  
• Administer the Gil Rosenberg Fund, which was established to support cultural and artistic activities
  
  
• Attend National Federation of Men's Club Conventions
  
  

Of course, we also have fun! Our monthly Sunday Men's Club Meetings and Bagel Brunch feature a variety of entertaining and informative programs. We have also produced evening programs such as the popular "Rochester's Own Haimishe Klezmer Band". Our annual October Paid-up Men's Club Dinner and Game Night is always a hit.
